Family Therapy

The family is the client. Not the one who is struggling. The whole system you share.

In-person in Rockville and Silver Spring, or by telehealth across Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, Louisiana, and Washington State.

Who this is for

The family is the client.

Family therapy at Enrichment Wellness starts from a different premise than “let’s fix the one who is struggling.” The family is the client. Not the teen who slammed the door. Not the parent who is running on empty. Not the kid whose grades dropped.

The system you all share, the patterns that move between you, the weather inside the house. That is what we work with.

The family with a dinner table that has its own weather. Three people eating, four conversations happening, no one really hearing anyone. The Sunday night that feels like a checklist instead of a meal.
The family carrying an inheritance no one chose. Patterns. Roles. Rules nobody wrote down. The way conflict gets handled, or does not. The way affection moves, or stalls. The way money gets talked about, or does not. Some of it you chose. A lot of it you didn’t.
The blended family in the middle of becoming. New stepparent. New living arrangements. New siblings. New rules that have not been negotiated yet. The work of building a system that did not exist a year ago.
The family adjusting to something that shifted. A move. A divorce. A loss. A diagnosis. A grown child returning. A parent declining. The system has to find a new shape, and the work of finding it can be done together.
The work

What the work looks like

Family therapy here is forty-five minutes per session, sometimes the whole system in the room, sometimes a subset, sometimes a parent dyad on its own. The cadence is shaped to what your family actually needs.

Internal Family Systems scaled to the family. Every member has parts, and the family itself has parts. The protector. The caretaker. The exile. The one who keeps the peace at their own cost. We map them together.

Structural family work for looking at roles, boundaries, who is coalitioned with whom, and where the hierarchy needs repair.

DBT skills for the chaotic days, when things are too hot for insight to land. CBT and ACT for the thought patterns and avoidance loops that keep cycles repeating.

Mindfulness and hypnotherapy when nervous systems need to settle before anything else can happen.

The work treats the family system as the unit of care. Every member belongs in it.

What changes

The fight on Tuesday stops being the same fight.

Communication patterns get named, so the family can interrupt them in real time, even without us in the room. Conflict cycles shorten. Repair happens faster after rupture. The recovery time is the metric we watch. Roles get renegotiated. The over-functioner is allowed to rest. The identified family member stops carrying the whole system.

Capacity for repair grows. Apologies land differently. Listening lands differently.

Who you’d work with

Our family-trained clinicians work from the same orientation.

Natalia, Zoia & Melanie

Our family-trained clinicians work from one shared orientation. The family system is the unit of care. Every member of your family is doing the best they can with what they were handed.

Olya Rich

Olya trains the team in this systems-first orientation and supervises the family work directly.

We will match your family to the clinician whose orientation, training, and style fit the work you are actually here to do.
