Adult Therapy

You know your patterns. You have language for what hurts. The language has not been enough.

In-person in Rockville and Silver Spring, or by telehealth across Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, Louisiana, and Washington State.

Who this is for

You have done some of this work before.

The adult who walks into individual therapy here is often someone who has done some work before. Maybe years of it. They know their patterns. They have language for what hurts. The language has not been enough.

Adult therapy at Enrichment Wellness is for people in a few common kinds of situations.

The relationship that cost you yourself. Years after walking away from a controlling, dismissive, or quietly cruel partner or parent, the voice that lived in that house still speaks first. The internal monologue still asks “Was it really that bad? Maybe I overreacted.” You can describe what happened, accurately and in detail. The describing has not fully untangled you from it.
The professional stuck in a rut. By every external measure your life is fine. The job works. The family works. The accomplishments compounded. Inside, something has gone unaccounted for. A quiet anxiety that does not let you fully relax. A felt sense of being less and less connected to the person you used to be.
The person whose patterns keep coming back. The same kind of relationship. The same kind of reaction. The same place where the wheels come off. You can see the loop. You haven’t been able to step out of it on your own.
The adult who has done therapy before and wants more depth. You’ve learned the names of things. The next layer is what you came here for: the depth underneath cognitive insight where the work actually lives.
The work

What the work looks like

Your clinician will draw from a real toolkit, matched to what the moment in front of you needs.

Internal Family Systems for the parts of you that have been running the show. The protector who keeps the peace. The critic who got you through. The exile who carries what nobody got to see. The work is meeting these parts, not silencing them.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy when emotion runs the room and you need actual skills to ride the wave instead of being pulled under. DBT is one of our anchor frameworks. It does what cognitive insight alone cannot do on the worst days.

Eye movement techniques for the memories and the body-level experiences that don’t move through language. We use them carefully, paced to your nervous system, when the work calls for them.

CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, and Hypnotherapy for the thought patterns and avoidance loops that keep cycles running, the relationship between you and your own attention, and the change that needs to land below conscious cognitive access.

The technique varies. The conviction does not. We sort what is yours from what was handed to you, and we work toward your power returning.

Two open hands mid-gesture in warm light, the work of finding words.
What changes

Slow at first. Then more than you expected.

The internal monologue gets quieter. The apology stops being your opening line. The replay shortens, then runs less often. You start trusting your own perception again, the one you’ve been overriding for years, and the pattern you couldn’t see your way out of starts to have edges.

The work returns you to a version of yourself that was there before you had to bury who you were.

Who you’d work with

Adult therapy here draws on a senior tier of our team.

A deep bench

Adult therapy here draws on more clinicians than we could meaningfully name on a page. Senior trauma-informed clinicians for the long aftermath of controlling and abusive relationships.

Matched with intention

Depth-oriented clinicians for the professional adult who is reading widely, doing the work, and looking for the next layer underneath cognitive insight.

We will match you to the clinician whose orientation, training, and style fit the work you’re actually here to do.
