Olesia Palamar
Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (MD & DC), Psychotherapist
Welcome. Taking the first step toward therapy can feel both courageous and uncertain, and you don’t have to know exactly where to begin. My name is Olesia Palamar, and I believe therapy should be a place where every part of you is welcome — your history, your culture, your identity, your body, your emotions, and the experiences that have shaped who you are today.
I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, mood disorders, trauma and complex PTSD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), LGBTQ+ related concerns, life transitions, and the challenges that can come with holding multiple cultures or identities at once. I have extensive experience working with immigrants, refugees, and multilingual clients and understand firsthand what it can mean to rebuild a sense of safety, belonging, and identity across cultures.
My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, collaborative, and deeply individualized. I don’t believe in forcing every person into one therapeutic model. Instead, we’ll explore what you’re experiencing, understand where certain patterns may have begun, and find the approaches that make the most sense for you.
I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), exposure-based approaches, Gestalt therapy, Jungian psychology, and Positive Psychotherapy. Sometimes our work may involve getting to know the parts of you that learned to protect you or carry responsibilities they were never meant to hold. Other times, you may need practical tools for managing overwhelming emotions, anxiety, relationships, or everyday challenges. Whatever the moment calls for, we’ll find it together.
Before becoming a therapist, I trained in general medicine in Kyiv, Ukraine. I later earned my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. My background in both medicine and psychology continues to shape the way I understand healing: the mind and body are deeply connected, and neither exists in isolation.
I am trilingual and provide therapy in English, Ukrainian, and Russian, allowing clients to express themselves in the language that feels most natural and meaningful to them.
Above all, I want therapy to be a space where you don’t have to hide, minimize, or leave pieces of yourself behind. Your anger is welcome. Your sensitivity is welcome. Your sadness, uncertainty, strength, and tenderness are welcome, too.
Healing isn’t about becoming a different person. It’s about understanding yourself more deeply, developing new ways of caring for yourself, and making space for the whole person you already are.
Outside of the therapy room, you’ll often find me near the ocean or in the mountains — two places that help me slow down, reconnect, and reset.
You don’t have to walk this path alone. I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
